What's the Deal With Parliament Cigarettes?

I started blogging about a year ago after getting turned onto it by my friend Matt (who is actually well on his way to making a name for himself in the blogosphere). As I've written before, blogging is kind of like Myspace for grown-ups. The longer I write, it seems more like Myspace for nerds, but I'm comfortable with that.

One thing that Matt got me turned onto was a little blog feature called sitemeter. Sitemeter tracks your daily blog visits and give the blogger a way of seeing how much traffic you get and essentially a numerical way of seeing that your time is well spent.

Ok, let me cut to the chase here. I check my sitemeter a few times a week to get a feel for who's looking me up, where from and what did they use to find my blog. Well, I've notice a trend that I dont get. Parliament cigarettes. Why you ask? Me too! I wrote a blog post about Parliament cigarettes back in October basically talking about how I hate smoking but I like the design of Parliament cigarette pakaging, and that seems to be getting me those hits. But the question remains, why are people searching the internet for Parliament cigarettes to begin with? None of the people ever leave comments, so apparently they're not as enamored with the graphic design as I am, but there must be something. Please educate me oh global Parliament searchers!

i googled "parliament lights" and was led to your blog as a result on the 12th page. there seems to be no background information whatsoever about these cigarettes! i'm exaggerating: there's some basic facts on wikipedia, but about 95% of the results i've come up with so far have all been online cigarette shops.

i'm looking for opinion, information about taste, who they're preferred by, etc., but what i've gathered so far from this failed search is that apparently these things don't matter as much as i assumed they would to a smoker. strange.

i googled parliament cigarettes because i once heard that parliament is banned in some countries because it extra-hazardous than the regular ones. my boss smokes all day and i have some sort of allergic reaction to these cigarettes. i was searching for some scientific evidence to get a print out and stuff it in to his nose. alas, i have found nothing... so i am just sticking with "smoking kills bastard!"

I also found your page by googling parliament cigarettes. I find all cigarette smoke offensive but parliament's for some reason, literally make me physically ill!! When I get even a small whiff of the smoke, I feel like my throat, nasal passages, and ears are closing, I get a terrible headache, and I start to feel nauseous. I have even felt so sick before that I have started gagging as though I was going to vomit... This is not from smoking, because I don't smoke, but from just being in the vacinity of someone smoking them. My fiancé's mom smokes them and I love her as if she were my own mom, but I have to mentally prepare myself to visit his parents because of how sick I feel when she smokes... And she smokes a lot! No one else seems to mind it so it makes me look like I'm being a complainer.
I'm sure there is something in that particular brand that makes some people so sick...

I don't know if you're still looking for an answer, but the "deal" with parliament cigarettes is that they're forbidden in a lot of European countries, including Switzerland (where they are produced). You can only find them in Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and the US.
They also are considered really good cigarettes, so a lot of Europeans buy them online..
I hope this helps ;)

I just found this through Google and I was searching Parliament for a totally different reason. I recently moved from the east coast to western South Dakota and yesterday while driving east across the state towards Minneapolis we stopped a few times looking for the Parliament full flavors my friend smokes. Every time we felt like we got an unnecessarily negative response to our inquiry. So I'm looking it up to see if there's any weird social connotations associated with smoking Parliaments or if people in South Dakota just think we look funny.
